Social Sofrito: Latino Networking Event @ Havana Central Recap

Like my name tag?

This post should be called "The Day I Forgot To Tweet".

Last night was the launch party for my new series of networking / professional development events that I call "Social Sofrito" (you surprised?). This launch party was also the only Latino themed event in Social Media Week NYC.

So since I forgot to tweet because there was so much happening at the venue, it was suggested by my friends @ergeekgoddess and @diceylo that I blog a recap. So here it is;

First of all…

IMG00007-20100203-1821  I want to thank Cecilia Pineda Feret @cecipf and the entire staff at Havana Central for setting the tone for Social Sofrito. There was an amazing energy in the room as some of NY's most prominent entrepreneurs, non profits and media agencies (in between mojitos and empanadas) talked about the social media landscape and many exciting projects that are on the horizon that we can collaborate on. I was happy to see so many people from our first LATISM conference come by to support this series and I just want to thank everyone for making this a truly unforgettable evening. There was also a great performance by Grammy nominated group 3D, Ritmo De Vida.

IMG00011-20100203-1825  Amongst our attendees were Louis Pagan (Founder, Latism), Ceasar Pillot (GALOS Corp), Joseph Domenick Martinez (amazing photographer), Marshall Sponder, Rodrigo Salazar (Phoenix Enterprise Group), Joe Revitte (Dollar Van Demos), Carmina Perez (Social Media Pro), Jeff Padilla (LT Communications, Juan "Papo Swiggity" Santiago (Capicu Cultural Showcase), Juan Torrez (Plus Creative, Nueve Nueve), Jaime El Maestro Emeric, Denise Dominguez, Damaris Lasa and Brookes (American Heart Association), Lance Rios (Being Latino), Keri (Revolucion), Jef Namnum (LITweetup), Alba Sanchez), Jose Vilson (@TheJLV), Phil Velez (Blogger), Zulay Olivo, Peggy Robles-Alvarado,  (IMentor), Irma Alarcon (Global Hue), Fernando Varela (Cafecito Bogota),Kelly Ramirez (Press Play), Farid Ali Lancheros (Bogota Bistro), Erica McLaughlin (TKTS) and last but not least, three of my favorite women from Edelman  (Kim, Silvia and Carla). I even bumped into my friends Carolyn Concepcion (Wing Latino) and  Sway (MTV On Air Personality) having dinner. I know I missed a few people and their guest, not everyone had business cards handy.

IMG00020-20100203-1919  We took some more pics…and I will be posting those as I get them…

I also want to thank all of our supporters that tweeted and retweeted our event invites even though they may not have been able to attend. Se te agradece!
