Wepa Wednesday: Puerto Rican Parade Edition #FreeOscarLopezRivera
Familia…
So a few weeks ago I started this quick Facebook live video project called WEPA WEDNESDAY… as a fun way of sharing a few key events from organizations we collaborate with… and some we just think are extremely cool. Please share if you like it so I can expand on this concept.
YOU LOVED IT… and not only am I getting a lot of great pitches on what to promote the idea is expanding soon into some new things. One of them being transcribing all of this to the blog for those of you that cannot consume video or as a recap for those that did and want the actual links.
Here is the video… and all the text below is the extended info I am talking about in the video.
In any event… this is the #WepaWednesday #PRParade edition for 6/8/2016…
Before you read the rest… I have an urgent request for ACTION.
You are always asking how you can help Puerto Rico… well we need you today and tomorrow to help fight the PROMESA bill that will put our island’s future into the hands of people that do not represent our interests (sounds familiar?)
We have had enough… join us for the Twitter Tormenta and sway the vote of the people you put in power!
Thank you David Galarza Santa for continuing to keep these initiatives on my radar!
HERE IS THE LINK WITH THE RESOURCES YOU NEED…. for #UNITEDAGAINSTPROMESA
and now on to our regularly scheduled programming.
GO SEE IN DEFENSE OF GLITTER AND RAINBOWS!
The first event I am going to plug, is very special. It is a play written by True Rodriguez called In Defense of Glitter and Rainbows. I had the opportunity to see it on opening night and I highly recommend it. I feel like there is something in it for everyone.

Sofrito Media Group, Inc correspondents Rebecca Gitana Torres and Jani Rosado will be providing social media coverage via the #LGBTRicans hashtag
El Encuentro will take place on Saturday, June 11 from 11:30am to 4:30pm at Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.

Sunday
The day we have all been waiting for… the National Puerto Rican Day Parade. We stand with the committee’s decision to proceed with the decision to hold the parade despite the challenges the island is facing. We instead dedicate our float to 3 key issues we are passionate about.
Our float this year is once again taking a stand and highlighting the struggle to get Oscar Lopez Rivera back to his family, the fiscal crisis and the environmental threat that increases each day as infrastructure crumbles.
Want to join us? see the info below!
Would you like to join this year’s Sofrito For Your Soul / Capicu Culture Puerto Rican Day Contingent?
Special guests on the Capicu float include Rosario Dawson La Reina de La Parada, Victor Cruz, Berto Colon (OITNB), Jesus-Papoleto Melendez andNancy Mercado
We need you to march and show the world thru ABC7‘s broadcast that we do care about what happens on the island.
Tickets are very limited and there is no way we can fairly select people to invite so we are opening a new block of 40 tickets that will be distributed “Loteria style”
HOW CAN I GET DOWN?
Email me your full name to PRPARADE@SofritoMediaGroup.com (only one name per email). Each winner will be allotted a single bracelet to march with us. All winners will be notified on Friday morning by 7am.
Important: there are no plus ones and unfortunately there are no slots available on the float itself.
SEE YOU ON 5TH AVE!!!
