Upcoming: Theater, Music Poetry, and More at the 28th Loisaida Festival

The Loisaida Festival is nearing, and this means a host of activities for all who are remotely attracted to the vibrant and LoisaidaFest_7exciting spirit of NYC’s Lower East Side community. It also helps if you are a love of all things emerging, Latino, community. At Loisaida, Inc. we have already started creating community como debe ser with our friends at La Plaza Cultural Community Garden. The festival’s Theater Lab, where bilingual and Latino artists will perform pieces tailor made for the occasion, will take place there on Sunday May, 24th. The Free performances will entertain all.

Theater Lab offers performances, plays, music, poetry, and more by professional theater companies, amateur players, and youth organizations. It provides a change of pace for festival-goers and is perfect for for all ages. Bring the kids (or
grandkids, or nephews). Capicu Culture’s own “The People’s Poetry Jam” will be doing their thing, wielding the power of the spoken word. Catch the show “My Superhero, Roberto Clemente” by Teatro SEA, or have the kids engage with the multilingual and interactive singing show, “I’m Working on Something” presented by Joy of Music.

Performance times range from 15 to 50 minutes with a 5 minute intermission in between. It’s the perfect chance to take a break from the bustle of the main festival, or start your day there day before heading to the street festivities.

A schedule of performances can be found here.
