The Poetry of Peggy Robles-Alvarado: Tu Cuerpo Es Mi Religion

Tu cuerpo es mi religion

© Peggy Robles-Alvarado

Soy devota ferviente

del sudor que sana

Mojandome el pecho y

arrugandome los pesones

Labios que iluminan

abriendo camino

con susurros al oido

Te digo

que no hay nada mas divino

que estar contigo

piel con piel

Penetrando lo mas profundo de mi ser

veo versos en mi viente

mientras te confieso

que tengo fe

Oliendo el insensio

cual es tu esencia

presencia magnifica

cual es el intercambio entre hombre y mujer

Tomando  tu  vino blanco

cual es mi salvacion

Sintiedo el dulce ardor

de tu penitencia

Con mi lengua llego

al cielo de tu boca

convertida en monja loca

pidiendote que me salve

¡Salvame!

Soy una insesante devota

Nunca me repentira

o me convertira

en seguidora de otro

Fanatica

Lunatica

dando gracias

al placer

hasta el fin

sudada

agotada

puedo decir

¡Amen!

Peggy Robles- Alvarado is a Puerto Rican and Dominican poet who has been called a “profound young Latina of depth and substance … who will prove to be an important emerging voice in the years to come”. This petite powerhouse commands and infuses incredible energy, strength and rhythm into her spoken word, bringing life to verses relating to identity, sensuality, and spirituality. With Master’s degrees in elementary education and bilingual education, she has been teaching in the south Bronx since 2001. She has been featured at The Nuyorican Poets Café, The Cemi Underground and The Clemente Soto Velez cultural center.  Her erotic poetry has been showcased on She Speaks at De Almas.org, an online women’s magazine that celebrates the feminine spirit. • Peggy Robles-Alvarado is a consummate Poet. Her being a cute Latina only adds an edge to, what I call, her very “raw-truth style”. She can seduce your mind with some wild erotic poem that makes the crowd gasp and laugh at once or have guys glance @ the exit signs, for safety reasons, when performing one of her works on Domestic Violence. No doubt she has energy, effervesence and is a polished writer. But don’t take my word on it, GO SEE HER, you’ll leave excited, with lots of food for thought and a renewed love for the Art of Poetry. Expect great things ahead from this Latina Vixen, she’s as real as it gets!
