Thank You, You Helped Save Lives In The Bronx!

thanxI am home now, I am writing this late Saturday night. I thought I was exhausted until I got home and started thinking about what I witnessed today. I saw a community come together in a way I have never seen before. This was certainly not the first Feria de Salud but this time was different. This time people got to experience the spirit behind the movement weeks before we stepped foot at St. Mary’s Park thru the power of social.

A little over 6 weeks ago… we hosted an online radio broadcast to talk about Diabetes with committee members Janice Hidalgo and Jhack Sepulveda. The day after we started a social media campaign (#PorTuFamilia) to help share resources with people who may not really know too much about this disease and how to help live a healthier lifestyle. It started with links, pictures showing support, blog posts, videos and 6 weeks later over 1,500 of us shared info using the #PorTuFamilia, reached over 2 million people and generated over 12 million impressions all to help promote the Feria De Salud in the Bronx.

See the Keyhole Report Data here!

There are so many people to thank… I am so sorry if I miss anyone.

First off… the entire #PorTuFamilia planning committee and the American Diabetes Association of Greater NY for putting so much time and energy into the Latino Initiatives Project. To every volunteer who gave up a beautiful summer day to serve the community, some coming from as far away as upstate NY and NJ.

Thank you to the members of  Hispanicize, Latina Mom Bloggers, Web City Girls, Capicu Cultural Showcase, Being Latino, Media Rumba, Los Tweens, Pa’Lante Latino, Expresso Con Leche, Autism Wonderland, Bloggers of Health, Jesse Luna, LATISM, Divabetic, Deborah Deras, Vista Hispano, United Latino Professionals, Foxy Family, Latina Leadership InstituteNALFO, AARP En Espanol, Latino Rebels and the very passionate Bohemian Babushka. It was your voices that we heard the loudest and focusing attention thru your influence, content creation and curation. We proved to the non-believers that we are truly a united familia online.

A very special thanks to Digibunch, Novell Research and my lovely baby cousins (Anicia Marie and Giselly) who went way above and beyond to create video PSAs to promote the campaign. To my live social media reporting team  Jomaira “La Sensacion” Martinez, Rebecca “Gitana” Torres, Joey Morales and Emilio from Dream Big Filmz who documented the day and are working on a recap as I write this.

We cannot forget the hundreds of people that created their own  #PorTuFamilia pics on Instagram and Facebook but especially my friend @SweetCorazonNY who garnered the attention of several high profile celebrity tweeters.

To all the sponsors of Feria de Salud… AETNA, BD, Novo Nordisk, Health First, Mc Donald’s IPRO, NY Yankees, Telemundo, Metro Plus Health Plan, City of New York Parks & Recreation, Choice Health Plan, Visiting Nurse Service of New York, Dasani Water, Urban Latino Magazine, El Diario De La Prensa (Happy 100th Anniversary!), La Mega 97.9, Diario De Mexico, El Especialito, La Voz Hispana, LB Graph-X Printing, 93.1 Amor FM and last but not least Sofrito Media Group.
