 WHO?

Capicu Poetry & Cultural Showcase

Innovative, fresh, cutting edge and always on the move…
The Capicu Poetry
& Cultural Showcase is a grassroots cultural house of poetry and
performing arts founded by nightlife event guru Juan "Papo Swiggity"
Santiago , & George "Urban Jibaro" Torres- creator of the online
magazine www.SofritoForYourSoul.com.

WHAT?

Open Mic Poetry Series with Visual Art Showcase

Hosted by OL SoUL, Hip Hop Artist & Spoken Word Poet
Curated by Papo Swiggity, The Urban Legend.
WHERE?

Our
showcase is featured monthly at Notice Lounge, a premiere mid-sized bar
in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. Notice Lounge is located
at 198 Union Ave, Brooklyn NY 11211.

We are currently seeking permanent location for our "Capicu Family" Teen Poetry Series.

WHEN?

Our next event will be hosted on Friday, August 29th, 2008

7pm-11pm (open mic poets, get there early, we average 15-20 open mic'ers per show)

WHY?

Brooklyn needed a movement
of bilingual and urban spoken word poetry, fused with visual artistry,
the principles of community organization and empowerment through
education.

Our mantra is that we educate and entertain, in order to enrich and empower the neighborhood's sense of self.

Where else can you see 3 hours of poetry, comedy, art and live music bands all in the same show for $5.00?

WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME?

Capicu Poetry & Cultural Showcase is a unique alternative to traditional nightlife.
We offer you a dynamic
showcase of some of the most talented poets, comedians, singers,
musicians and visual artists. Since Capicu Poetry is hosted in a trendy
bar (with great drinks) you can stay after the show and enjoy the
afterparty and dance to a mix of Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop and Reggaeton
till the early AM.

You get all
this for a $5.00 cover charge and we have drink specials through most
of the night. Notice Lounge also serves an eclectic selection of
Coffees/Cappuccino and Hot Panini Grills.

WHAT MAKES CAPICU POETRY SO DIFFERENT?

Capicu Poetry & Cultural Showcase has the capabilities of a full fledged media team.
We have a significant talent pool ranging from event management and
graphic design to audio/visual production. We are fully capable to host

to many demographics including the socially conscious youth, culturally
acclimated, family focused, educators, community organizations, young
entreprenuers as well as non-Latinos looking for a venue of
multi-cultural positive expression.
