Provide Your Children A World Class Education Online For FREE!

Sofrito4kids Have you every had your child ask you to help with homework and you were embarrassed because you really do not remember how to solve an Algebra problem? I was a pretty good student and even consider myself a bit of a nerd when it comes to certain subjects (just not math) and even I struggled helping my kids at times.

As any parent would, I found resources for my kids and  even spent a indecent amount of money tutoring so that the they can overcome their obstacles.

I wish I knew what I am about to tell you years ago… it would have saved me a lot of money.

Here is the story…

So I was playing around with the new Galaxy S Tablet (which I love) and my friend Carl Granvil asked me if I knew about Khan Academy. He gave me a quick overview of the site using the touch screen interface and played me a few video courses so that I can see how valuable this site really is…Once I saw how many topics this site covers, all I though was…every parent in the world should know about this.

So what is The Khan Academy?

The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) with the mission of providing a world-class education to anyone, anywhere.

We are complementing Salman's ever-growing library with user-paced exercises–developed as an open source project–allowing the Khan Academy to become the free classroom for the World.

Here is an exerpt and video from their website;

"The Khan Academy is all about using video to explain the world, so what better way to explain the Khan Academy than through videos. If you watch four or five of the videos below, you should have a pretty good idea of how we got started and how we hope to empower everyone, everywhere with a free, world-class education. If you don't have a broadband connection or aren't someplace nice to watch a video, try out the Frequently Asked Questions tab to better understand our motivations."

Now here is what I like about it, besides the fact that it is free… it is utilizing video in small doses that is very topic specific and in an organized manner. The range of topics (over 1,600) are very well organized and comprehensive. This is a great resource for that self starter student, you can find videos on Math, Science, Humanities and even SAT / GMAT Test Prep. I also like that this resource covers topics from grade school all the way up to college level courses.

This resource can be especially helpful with English dominant students with parents who are native Spanish speakers.

Please, use the tool bar below and  share this resource with every young person and parent you know via facebook and twitter. let us know what you think about it in the comments section below!
