Por Tu Familia Pioneer Rosa Rosen Has Transitioned…

I just got this email from Helene Velazquez from the American Diabetes Association… the Por Tu Familia committee has lost one of our own… Rosa Rosen, a passionate and determined voice in the fight against diabetes. Our thoughts are with anyone touched by her loss.

Good Morning,

I am so saddened to say ROSA ROSEN our fellow LI Committee member, colleague, associate, friend and loving Sister has passed away early this morning. As most of you know, Rosa was the former Latino Initiatives Manager and a pioneer here at the ADA Greater NY and she had a passion to teach/educate on diabetes, it was a big part of her life. I must say from the day that I met Rosa I was inspired and very happy to have her as a mentor. It was a pleasure and an honor to have Rosa serve on our Committee and to serve on our ADA national Latino Advocacy coalition. She will be missed however, on my last but beautiful luncheon with Rosa she said not to pity her because that’s not what she believes in and we all know she was a dignified, strong, professional and beautiful woman, her words to us was to live life with joy and continue the mission to STOP DIABETES.

May she rest in peace.
