Photos From The First Annual Barrio Bombafest!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported. I would be remiss if I did not congratulate the Capicu crew PapoSwiggity, La Sensacion and DJ Sambarella for producing an amazing event!

2330860975_787f68d9b6 This series of images documents the Friday, August 26th 1st Annual Barrio BombaFest that was held in front of the newly constructed Silberman School of Social Work @ Hunter College Building on 119th Street.

This street festival was sponsored by the Silberman School of Social Work @ Hunter College. It was officiated by Dean Jacqueline B. Mondros who greeted festival participants and introduced the SSSW @ Hunter to the East Harlem/El Barrio community. The festival was ably produced by Hunter's own "Papo Swiggity" Santiago.

The Barrio BombaFest featured a variety of informational booths on preventive health, local cultural resources and social services to the local community.

Children enjoyed face painting, balloon art, sack races as well as joining in with Zuma and Bomba dancers. Bombafest showcased the music of the legendary "Los Pleneros De La 21" and "Machete Movement".

Judging from the smiles, lively dancing and enthusiastic applause, a delightful time was had by all.
