I have been holding on to this for a few days, but I am finally ready to share the some very exciting news.  Last week I accepted an invitation to be part of  a small, highly curated group for a #2030now Influencers Fellowship provided by the United Nations Foundation. The committee became aware of me because of my work as a Hispanicize advisory board member. (Thanks Manny!)

Here is an exerpt from my invitation letter.

“Last year, people in more than 300 cities in 150 countries participated in the summit, organizing in-person or online meetings in their own communities and connecting via video and social media. And this year, through the newly launched +SocialGood platform and with the reach of the UN Development Program’s country offices, that number will be even higher, with meet ups taking place in countries such as Rwanda, Brazil, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Somalia and the Ukraine.

The summit’s theme, #2030NOW, centers on the question: Will the solutions we are creating in today’s digital world truly have a lasting impact on our future and how are we paving the way for the next generation of innovation? We recognize your contributions to this discussion would be invaluable, especially in sharing solutions, lessons learned and ideas about how technology and social media across many disciplines and channels, can create the world we want to live in for 2030.”

The Social Good Summit is a three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions. Held during UN Week from September 22-24, the Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: the power of innovative thinking and technology to solve our greatest challenges. The most innovative technologists, influential minds and passionate activists will come together with one shared goal: to unlock the potential of new media and technology to make the world a better place, and then to translate that potential into action. You can see the full roster of sessions and speakers by visiting the Social Good Summit website.

I am looking very forward to attending as Sofrito Media Group and especially #TeamCapicu have been very active with creating social good programs (particularly the #PorTuFamilia) on a local level. The most exciting part of this is that I will be able to connect with other influencers working on global causes and hopefully bring back valuable information that I can share with my community to help us develop better solutions.

Stay tuned to my #2030NOW tweets and instagram posts.
