Everything You Wanted To Know About LatISM…but did not know who to ask.

Latism120 Saludos…

With so many events / blog posts/ tweets floating around with the #LatISM tag attached to it, it can be a little hard understanding what all the buzz is about. My name is George Torres (that is me, with the Sofrito jar up there) and I am the NYC partner for the LatISM Heritage Tour that is taking place between September 24th and October 9th in 3 different states, Texas, New York and Florida.

I am going to help you understand exactly wht LatISM is.

The main website for LatISM '09 is http://www.LatISM.org

Here are the questions I get asked most often…let's start from the beginning..

What is the LATISM Heritage Tour?

The LATISM Heritage Tour is a two-day event will provide a networking opportunity and conference presentation, bringing together the leading minds and innovators in social media and technology.

All are welcome to learn, understand and support Latinos in the current dynamic social media environment.

With 21 million projected Latino internet users by 2010, Latinos are adopting social media as their primary source of communication, news and entertainment faster than any other group.  Their buying power is projected to reach $1.3 Trillion by 2013.

"The goal of the conference is to give Latinos/Hispanic professionals and businesses, who want to reach and engage the Latino/Hispanic market, the opportunity to converge and discuss high level strategies and the future of social media and marketing.  The event will provide valuable insights and new perspectives from industry executives who will discuss proven strategies to profit from social media and marketing.  Plus, the event offers valuable networking opportunities which are designed to maximize event participation."

It is paramount to learn what cultural factors are driving this shift, and understand how to reach Latinos where they are primarily active in emerging technologies.

The Latinos In Social Media Heritage Tour, will present these topics and more:

-Latest trends in social media and effective marketing strategies.
-Case studies of top brands/companies; challenges and obstacles.
-Developing and social media technologies and trends
-Latino culture, heritage, demographics in the U.S. today

We believe the best way to reach Latinos is through Latinos.  LatISM will bring Bloggers, Twitters, Facebook, MySpace, Hi5, LinkedIn Leaders and many more together to learn about the latest Social Media trends.  All this while celebrating our culture!

When and where is the LATISM Heritage Tour happening?

The first three dates of the tour are as follows;

LatISM Texas will take place at the Westin Galleria in Houston on September 24th & 25th.

LatISM NY will take place at the Millenium Broadway Hotel in the heart of Manhattan on October 1st & 2nd.

LatISM Florida will take place at the Caribe Royale in Orlando on October 8th & 9th.

What does the agenda look like?

The LatISM agenda is very well rounded with a mix of cultural celebration, community recognition, educational seminars, networking events and discussion surrounding our role in the future of Social Media
