Coquito -n- Cupcakes Raises Money For Kids In Brooklyn.

This past Friday we kicked off the holiday season with a full house Capicu Style with our first ever Coquito -n- Cupcake tasting / networking event at the EvilOlivE Pizza Bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn.  The event, was inspired by our team’s love for the kids in our community and our need to celebrate life, by raising money for our Pa’l Pueblo Christmas Initiative.

The centerpiece for this event was the free tasting of Flaco Coquito’s delicious line of flavored Coquito as well as the very popular Bustelo Infused Cafelo Cakes™ created by Brooklyn based Kookie’s Treats who is actually better known for her very creative custom designed / themed cakes. To add a bit of visual flavor, we featured paintings from Alberto Areizaga (#TeamCapicu’s Official Photographer) very Boricua collection as a backdrop for the CAPICU TABLE. You read that right, for the first time in Capicu history, we featured a handcrafted domino table at our event to help raise money for Bushwick United.

Special thanks to our presenting sponsors EvilOlive Pizza Bar, Kookie’s Treats, Flaco Coquito as well as our supporting sponsors FutuVision Productions, Evelyn Torres from Legal Shield,, Radio Capicu, Sofrito Media Group, #TeamCapicu and for the 80+ people who came to help to raise over $1,200 for the kids of Bushwick United.

We also want to thank Jes Sofia Valle (@jesssofiavalle) from Bloggers of Health for flying into NYC from LA to attend the event (and meet us). She is here in NYC to help Hurricane Sandy victims and has offered to  help one of our supporters replace essential tools to help special needs kids she lost when her home was destroyed in the storm. Thanks to Jes, kids from Far Rockaway affected by the storm will be able to resume a sense of normalcy after this tragic event.

Un abrazo carinoso to my blogging buddy Vicky Barrios (@DocSabia) and actress / singer / writer Venessa Diaz (Organic Sofrito or Other Recipes for Disaster), for coming to hang out with me but more importantly with helping us promote this cause.

Congratulations to Sergio who won our grand prize for the raffle… a 24 inch HD Flatscreen TV sponsored by a secret Christmas Angel 😉

About Pa’l Pueblo

The Pa’l Pueblo movement is just like the mythical North Pole, except we do not make gifts (at least not yet)… instead, we raise money, buy, wrap and deliver the gifts for the children at an in school celebration in which the kids give back by way of song and dance, singing multicultural Christmas carols. That is what makes this initiative so important to us at Capicu Cultural Showcase.

Every $10 Contribution delivers a smile to a child that may not have Christmas without your help.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for or next event… The Official Pa’L Pueblo Urban Parranda on December 7th at the EvilOlive Pizza bar featuring live aguinaldos from “Estampas De Borinquen”.

The holiday season is just beginning, we are off to a running start but we have not hit our goal yet so if you are interested in contributing by way of donation, a purchase from our wishlist, a raffle prize or event sponsorship, please email us at or call me at 516-690-7397.
