Cheerios has a long-standing mission to help fight and prevent heart disease. The Ángel de mi Corazón initiative is part of the larger Cheerios Circle of Helping Hearts™ program that General Mills created to help raise awareness and provide education about the risk of heart disease.  In 2007-2008, Cheerios Circle of Helping Hearts™ will donate $500,000 to WomenHeart, a national coalition of women with heart disease.

The Cheerios partnership with WomenHeart is extending to include heart disease awareness and prevention among the more 40 million Hispanics nationwide.  With its Cheerios Circle of Helping Hearts™ program, General Mills wants to encourage individuals to do their part to prevent heart disease and recognize those who are making a difference.  Taking simple steps each day, like choosing foods that are part of a heart-healthy diet and getting the recommended physical activity, are important ways to help improve heart health.
