McDonald’s NY Tri-State presented a $6,750.00 donation to The Celia Cruz Foundation as part of its new initiative, Celebrando Nuestras Leyendas. The month-long program, which this year honored La Reina de la Salsa Celia Cruz, pays tribute to Latino music legends and cultural icons. Some of you may remember that back in October… we were invited to join the celebration of Celia’s legacy at the world famous Latin Quarters (check out story and photos here)

At that time… McDonald’s NY Metro concluded its month-long Hispanic Heritage Month festivity “Celebrando Nuestras Leyendas,” its annual initiative launched in mid-September celebrating iconic Latino cultural legends. In its inaugural year, “Celebrando Nuestras Leyendas” honored the legendary Celia Cruz, undeniably, one of the best-known and most influential female figures in the history of Latino music. As the grand finale to this program, McDonald’s partnered with AT&T, La Mega 97.9 and La Nueva 93.1 Amor to host a live music show at Latin Quarters Nightclub in New York City to benefit the Celia Cruz Foundation.

The Foundation’s mission is to offer financial aid to Latino students who wish to study music. It will also be a great contributor in the fight against Cancer.
Founded by music industry legend Celia Cruz, The Celia Cruz Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for underprivileged students wishing to study music. During her 50-year span in the music industry, Ms. Cruz was a tireless supporter of music education issues in the Hispanic community.

For more than half a century, the Queen of Salsa carried her title with class and distinction. Her powerful voice and electrifying rhythm garnered more than 100 worldwide recognitions, multiple platinum and gold records, three GRAMMY® awards and four Latin GRAMMY® awards, as well as a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Her boundless enthusiasm, genuine warmth, and deep-seated humanitarianism made Celia Cruz the music industry’s most accomplished and revered performer … and the world’s most notable ambassador of Hispanic culture.
