An Educational Pledge by Alberto O. Cappas

Saludos…

In all the years I have been on the web…there is very little I have asked of my readers. Today I am going to ask you to do something, not for me but for some of the young people that you have in your lives. I want you to share the following "Educational Pledge" with them so that they can explore where there lives are going.

I recently found out that a young person related to a friend I went to high school with (who is now deceased) has lost their life as well in almost the same way. It is a tragedy for any parent to have to bury a child…imagine the grief of a mother losing her only two sons in the same way…just a few years apart.

I think about this and it just makes me think of all the good kids out there that are on the cusp of making decisions that will affect the rest of there lives. I think about all the kids that are already down that road that still can turn things around and all it may take is a moment of your time, letting them know that it really is up to them to take control…and it all starts with a commitment to respect themselves first and build a strong foundation that begins with an education.

I was once on a similar road, and thanks to my own self determination along with friends and family who loved me…I was able to pull away from the streets and have a beautiful life. In my journey, I saw many who did not have that same support system succumb to a different fate.

So  I am asking you   to share this in any way possible, print, email, hotlink, blog post or sit down with them at a computer and let them know that they deserve more…and maybe that will be what they need to make that change.

Thank you…

As I am,
George Torres
