Hosted by Fish Vargas

In March of 2003, the reading series known as Acentos had its humble beginnings at the Blue Ox Bar in the South Bronx, with the mission to provide a much-needed spotlight for the voices of Latinos and Latinas in American poetry.

Please join us this Saturday, April 17th, as we celebrate National
Poetry Month with some of our favorite Latino and Latina poets from the last seven years. And come raise a glass to our co-founder Fish Vargas, as he heads to his new home out west.

The best part? It all happens in our original space: The Blue Ox Bar has become the improved and expanded Sweetwater's Bar and Grill, located at 139th Street and 3rd Avenue in the Bronx, mere footsteps from the 6 train.

Featured readers include: LiYun Alvarado, Diana Marie Delgado, Martín Espada, Carlos Andres Gomez, Marie-Elizabeth Mali, Paul Martinez Pompa, Anthony Morales, Urayoan Noel, Willie Perdomo, and Patrick Rosal; with some special guest readers, and hosted Fish Vargas.

Serious poetry…serious FIESTA!
