I was just sitting in my studio, brainstorming some topics for my Radio Capicu show and it "me di cuenta" that I have never really written anything about some of the other great radio shows that are out there.
I decided to to radio because there really was not a show out there that addresses some of the things I wanted to hear about. When you listen to terrestrial radio, you get the MEGAS and the CALIENTES of the world, do not get me wrong they are needed...but I wanted more. I felt that in college, young people really open up when they join organizations and attend workshops. They open up because people that look just like them are talking about things that are all too real in their life.
My idea was to create a forum in which that dialogue can take place on a global level. So that the young Latino aspiring poet can hear what Nuyorican Poetry sounds like. So that the Cubana serving in our military in Afghanistan can discover Afro Cuban Funk without being in Miami. So that the young impressionable machista can see that it does not take putting a woman down to be a man. So that people with great ideas can connect and create movements...utilizing the power of social media.
My show Radio Capicu is the first live Latino Talk Show broadcast on the internet thanks to the people of Blog Talk Radio.
I said all that to say...that I have begun to listen to a lot of radio online so I thought I would share some of my favorites with you...there is a little of everything in the mix. big shout out to Urban Latino for dominating this list with quality programming. I will be adding more to the list as some other favorites like Boricuation Radio are currently on hiatus.
Here they are...Buen Provecho
As I am,
