Yup...
I am trading my bowl of tortilla chips and salsa dip for dipping chicks to the beat of Salsa...
It is no secret...you seen my pics on the web...and if you seen them you know that I am what you call "un Boricua bien saludable....". I am not sure how many different ways I have described myself over the years...heavy set, chubby, big boned, gordito...but one thing...I have never really been ashamed of being this way but have always wished I could lose a few pounds, maybe it is because I have always been pretty active...yeah I still play paintball, you want some of this???!!!!
When I pledged my Fraternity in 97, I worked out every day and lost close to 70 lbs and was in the shape of my life. As circumstances would have it, long hours at work, juggling my day job, traveling extensively and losing much of my committment to physical activity have brought me back to the point where I am considering if I should do something about becoming a tad bit more healthy. I have decided to do something I have been wanting to do for a long time and that is learn the "art" of dancing Salsa. My thought is I will be doing something that is fun...interesting to me and I get some extra cardio exercise that will position me to jump back into a regular exercise regiment. Now I am not talking about that salsa you dance at a family party...I am talking that zoot suit, shiny shoes, partner spinning salsa that makes every one in the club wants to dance with you. So I have decided to look around the Brooklyn/Queens area for a Salsa school that can transform me from Fat Joe (leaning back, doing the rockaway) to Chayanne aka Rico (star of Salsa The Movie)...wishful thinking...I know.
Best of all...I will not be alone...my dear friend Shellz planted the seed in my head to make it happen, so we will be recruiting more people along the way...so why don't you join us?
I need your help...can you recommend a place that has great instructors that would not mind sponsoring my lessons while getting a little extra publicity from one of the hottest cultural sites on the web (12 years and running)?
I plan on documenting my journey via weekly blog posts...so that you can share this moment with me.

I have started attending a school in parkslope and they have another location in bushwick. they are really good and patient and the hours are good. they are called Salsa Salsa Dance Studio. They have a website as well.
