What's up is that nobody attacked her. According to news reports http://www.kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=8142322 , Melanie faked the attack. School surveillance cameras show her doing it, and she has now been charged with filing a false police report.

One boy who was offended by the sign grabbed it from her, which is a minor violation of school rules, and he was suspended for a day for doing that. That was the entire extent of the "attack".
